Applied Counseling Services offers therapeutic counseling for children, adults and families.
Ms. Burke has extensive experience working with children, adolescents and young adults with an emphasis on issues surrounding family dynamics, blended families and divorcing families, child physical and sexual abuse. She also has specialized training in the area of Autism Spectrum Disorders, Anxiety, Depression and ADHD.
Ms. Burke's therapeutic approaches include CBT, DBT,, Play Therapy and Positive Psychology. She also has specialized training in grief recovery and is a Certified Grief Recovery Therapist for the Grief Recovery Institute. The Grief Recovery Institute, based in San Diego California, focuses on education and addresses the long and short term effects of unresolved grief.
Ms. Burke conducts custody evaluations for the court system and the private sector and is a MICPEL trained mediator for the State of Maryland.
Ms. Burke is a trained member of the NOVA crisis response team. NOVA is the National Organization of Victims Assistance, an international group that assists communities and individuals in dealing with the after effects of disasters.

Applied Counseling Services has a 24 hour cancellation policy. ACS requires at least 24 hours notice so that a cancelled appointment can be offered to another client who may be needing assistance. In order to avoid being charged for a missed appointment call the office by 8 AM the day before your scheduled appointment.
Payment is due at the time of service. You will be contacted directly by the office for cancellations due to rare extreme weather conditions or emergencies individual therapy, couples counseling, and group therapy. We also offer specialized services for issues such as addiction, anger management, and grief and loss.
